Comparison of hardcore exclusives that are relevant for the future, meaning they are expected to get sequels
(motion controlled, cartoon-style, racing/sports and downloadable games are left out):

God of War
Uncharted
Killzone
ICO
Last Story
Starhawk
SOCUM
Lil Big People
Infamos
Twisted Metal
Dust 514
Valkyrie Chronicles
The studio who makes Heavy Rain

Halo
Gears
Fable
Crackdud
Alan Wake

Let's be honest here, MS needs to do much more for the hardcore gamer.

Just so they can make your list bigger?

Obviously.

The amount of sad MS badgering going on here is...sad

We should be badgering them. When the media notices and confronts them for for the second year in a row it becomes kind of obvious there is a problem. Microsoft isnt exactly a company you can rest assured with for gaming, they will be complacent only where profit resides even if it has aboslutely nothing to do with gaming on a gaming console itself. They must also learn be satisfied with a title that sells under three million copies. Not every game is a mega hit. They've been in this for almost two generations and still havent understood that you can have your sellers but its also important as a gaming company to prove your console has a wealth of exclusives to attract gamers. We already know novelties like Kinect can  attract casuals.

No, you shouldn't, hosting your opinion on the matter is fine, and I fully appreciate you to do so, but quattro posting just to hate on MS isn't fine.

If MS was doing some bad on the game department people would stop buying 360's, and so far that hasn't happended.

I've also owned a PS3 since 2009, and since then it has consumed less than 5% of my gaming time, and that isn't likely to change untill TLG and TLOU come out, so Sony isn't doing all that well for me either.

It's all of matter of preference in the end, I prefer 4-5 exclusives that I really want to play, instead of 30 exclusives from which I only want to play 2-3, and I fully appreciate that you disagree, but you could certainly do it with a better attitude.

Ok so....its acceptable to only give two exclusives a year and call yourself a legit gaming company? You mean I purchased my 360 to have it collect dust if Im not playing multiplayer on Live? Sorry bro, I'm a gamer. I think I should. The way I see it, if you purchased a product with your hard earned money and have invested in it for years you deserve to bitch when it calls for it. Microsoft pretty much just admitted the problem and gave their reasoning and quite frankly saying its not easy to make AAA titles isnt good enough. Nintendo and Sony can do it....they say they have bigger blockbusters titles. Its about time they put up or shut up.

First off almost everybody here is ignoring how XBLA pumps out more and better rated games then PSN every year. Unless were all "budget racist" and only care about retail, big budget games.

But MS is doing just fine and their reasoning is sound. Sony tried so hard this gen with new IPs and out of all of them, only Uncharted "stuck" with the gamers, the rest being forgettable and didnt sell according to expectations. MS should not do what Sony does: taking blind shots in the dark hoping one of them connects with the gamers....cause frankly thats a waste of time and money, given their poor sales.

The final quote was spot on how its all about "quality and IMPACT then number of releases". Its funny to think that Halo 4 will have more buzz and probably more sales then most big name PS3 exclusives combined this year. But theres still the smaller games not on PS3: Minecraft, Alan Wake, Fable The Journey, Ryse, Steel Battelion, Star Wars, The Witcher, plus the usual XBLA titles that just demolish what PSN has to offer.

As a 360 gamer, I couldnt be happier with my 360. Too many people here are "list whores"...making lists for the sake of seeing whos is bigger. However thats only the on paper aspect. Real world numbers suggest MS is right, given the poor sales of most PS3 new Ips.

No one is mentioning them because they're almost always not exclusive. Also, this is a bad stereotype that PSN doesn't get as many and good games as XBLA. Your last paragraph is kind of ironic though...

Yes, PSN has a pretty good amount of games, but in terms of qualilty and quantity XBLA is superior. Have you even seem the XBLA games that are releasing this year? I could easily name double the amount of  exclusive arcade games this year compared to PSN. Not taking anything away from PSN, but MS really has arcade games of lock down.

Yeah, could you list XBLA 2011 exclusive AAA titles? Because I can't remember any. And let's be honest here...in the real world, digital indie titles don't matter. Or at least, that's what I'm told because they're shunned by most 360 owners

It's hard to list games for certain what they will score(because their not out), but all these games should score in the 80-90 or higher meta score.

Alan wake: American Nightmare, Trails Evolution, Deadlight, Fez, Battleblock Theater, Retro City Rampage, Hybrid, Bloodforge, Minecraft, Happy Wars, Sins of Mora, Dust: An Elysain Tale, Skulls of Shogun, Diablical Pitch, Spelunky, Wreckateer and Class3.

These are mainly the high profile games releasing this year, but a pretty solid line-up considering were only in the month of January.
