This is all that needs to be said.

Galaxy 2 was awesome, Galaxy was a hell of an idea with great level design.

Hated mario 64 and Mario sunshine.  Mario 64 was alright on its own but I hated what it did to the genre (3d platformers became fetch quests).  Mario Sunshine was alright but accentuated everything I didn't like about 64 and I found it confusing for some reason.

Mario 3D land I'm still in the air about...I played through the whole thing and was rather disappointed/underwhelmed, only to hear that's apparently only half the game, and the best half is yet to be played.  haven't returned to it as I'm too busy with Ocarina of time 3D and Mario Kart 7.

Wait what do you mean you played through the whole thing but it was only half o.O?

Well, I played through all 8 worlds, beat the game, beat bowser, got to the end credits, and when I complained the game was too short to the VGchartz crew, they informed me that there's another set of levels.  Appparently, once you beat the game you get a second set of levels.  Same world design, different level design, and the second set is apparently much harder.

I can't clarify this but that's what I'm told.  Beating the game just unlocks more levels.

Oh so its similar to the green stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2 or the inverse colored level design in Super Mario World (except for difficulty).

Hey at least it doesnt blatantly tell you to go try a harder mode like in Super Mario Bros....

It is like the commet stars, and also some other worlds are remixed. You actually get 8 new worlds! It doesn't feel monotonous. I can actually say 3D Land is one hell of a game! And for it to edge Galaxy on my list is one hell of a feat.
