I like the vita but sony's business practices, frankly loss leading always strikes me a dishonest and monopolistic practice coupled with sony's tendency toward exaggerating their products performances
first sony intentionally allowed the perception of being nearly the ps3, but it isn't anywhere near it, more like an xbox with more space available for textures, uncharted is only running at about 5x the polygon count of resistance psp (oddly enough monster hunter tri g is running at 4x the count of monster hunter portable 3, polygon calculation don't seem to be hugely different between the vita and 3ds, supports the rumors that the 3ds has vector units on board and that the vita is further under clocked than assumed)
second they seem to have outright misled people about the amount of ram the machine has
http://www.ubmtechinsights.com/teardowns/sony-playstation-vita-teardown/
ram in 256 +128+128
128MB of ram embedded in the gpu seems unlikely so the 128MB is sure looks to be actually about of the 512 MB of main ram
lastly sony more or less did apple a huge favor in their design, the vita is probably going to be a good sight less powerful than the ipad3/phone5 when it ships with the exact same hardware but at higher clocks speeds and more ram, so effectively any playstation vita development translates to a iOS development and it will bring down manufacturing costs and increases processes maturity of sony's products, frankly it could easily be skew all sorts of perception and value when retail priced vita games begin hitting iOS for a fraction of the cost
