This site has Dreamcast sales listed at 8.2 million. 3DS should be around 8.8 million when its updated soon.

It sounds horribly wrong. i would have thought the Dreamcast at least pushed out half or more of what the gc did. ?aybe it was not popular in EMEAA?

I can only go off what the chart says on this site. I don't know whether or not those figures are undertracked. I know I've read a couple of times that the PS2's fisures are lower than they really are so this might be the case with the Dreamcast. I really don't know either way so I just went with what was there.
