It will dominate the huge awkward controller genre for sure!

Seriously though we don't even know its capabilities yet, so I would hold off before declaring domination.

What a silly post. This console isn't even going to come out for another year or two. It is already (before it even realeases) far outdated.. By the time it hits store shelves the tech will be an Antique. As for what genere it won't dominate... Sports games.. Sony/M$ franchises/FPS/any game that adults or teens take seriously. Gamers don't play Nintendo games to have a serious immersive experience.. They play it to have fun and be silly. This perception will not change, if anything Nintendo will get even more of a "kiddy" repuation due to this silly (and slightly ridiculous) tablet controller and relying on the Wii motes for extra controllers. With hardware that is 4 to 6 years behind the competition not to mention how far behind PC gaming they will be. They are shooting themselves in the foot. Isn't it funny that almost NO ONE, gaming publications such as GameInformer or any other respectable gaming site looks at the WiiU as a next gen console... It will be getting ports from the 360 and PS3 and even those aren't going to release till long after the PS/360 versions of the same game releases. This console is DoA. Point to the success of the NES... I point to the Gamecube.. Poin to the success of the Wii... I put to the WiiU. /thread.

I find this hilarious. Outdated how so? From what we know it will be capable of running the current PC games like BF3. Power wise it could be anywhere from 50% the power of PS3 to 5x and thats based on leaks who knows how much horse power Nintendo could still be hiding. We have heard from media outlets that Nintendo has been increasing the consoles RAM and other features non-stop since the console was originally announced and final dev kits still haven't made their way to developers.

You are calling a console out dated before its specs are even availible. All you have to go on is speculation and rumors and nothing official from Nintendo or even a third party to say for sure how powerful the console is. 4 to 6 years behind what competition? Certainly not 360/PS3 and its really way way to early to be saying behind Nex-Box and PS4 because you have no clue how powerful those consoles will be or what technology will be inside them.

The kiddy reputationbeing increased due to tablet controls is so funny. If that is the case why are tablets selling like hot cakes to adults? The software is why Nintendo is considered kiddy not the hardware, I also said "Cannot" dominate not "won't" dominate. Meaning their is no reason Nintendo couldn't dominate these genre's from a game point of view. Maybe sales wise it might be a stretch for Nintendo to out sell mature titles on the competitors hardware. But from a game quality stand point the Wii is capable of dominating every genre except maybe dance.

Also you name Game Informer but the articles I read where they don't refer to WiiU as next generation they are quotes from Michael Pachter and honestly if your going to listen to anything he has to say you really need to consider getting help. Look we really can't comment completely on graphical power and from a technological standpoint WiiU is definitly not old tech, the tablet controller features state of the art technology. If you want to say that the tablet controller is years old technology then so is Kinect and Move. In fact other then graphics their isn't any feature of any console that is new technology from those standards.

Look its hilarious you are judging hardware's graphical capabilities without any solid facts to support your conclusion or any knowledge of what the competitors will launch in the near future. Also saying WiiU could be two years away just shows a further lack of understanding when it comes to Nintendo products.

Lastly I point to NES a piece of hardware that was advanced but not drastically superior to competition and you point to GameCube but lets not forget N64's failure though it by all means was the most powerful piece of hardware that generation. I point to Wii a piece of technology that graphically was inferior to its competitors and you point to GameCube which was drastically more powerful then PS2,DreamCast.

See any pattern here? The drastically powerful next generation consoles fail miserably in your eyes, but the last generation innovative cheap technology out performs the competition? That only throws your idea of WiiU being DOA further into dissoray!

WOW!  Can you seriously say Nintendo and power(forget the magazine) gaming system in the same sentence and think that it applies?  Nintendo is all about price and profits(can't blame them), not about being the best or most powerful.  This has proven(Wii) that it can be a great system seller, because the general public buys what works for today, not what will still be the best 2 years down the road.  The WiiU will sell good to great because it can do what the other consoles can do today and it will be priced competitively and it will be NEW!

I'm not completely sure if your agreeing with my statement or not. But N64 and GameCube were both super powers during their generations and Nintendo sold both devices at a loss at launch (I thought they sold at a profit but in doing research find conflicting reports for both consoles). Problem is the high powered systems failed to make a dent and the lower powered systems like the drastically inferior PSOne and the less drastic but still majorly inferior PS2 managed to out sell their much more powerful competitors. lets also not forget GameBoy's victory over the vastly more powerful GameGear.

Graphical power really doesn't mean squat when it comes to winning a generation. It comes down to the games and gameplay and costs of development. Honestly making a PSOne game was so much cheaper then an N64 game so much cheaper that Nintendo really wasn't even capable of competing for third party support let alone Nintendo's troubled past with third parties. Then with GameCube the hardware was more expensive to develop for then PS2 and without online and several other features Nintendo lost a ton of multiplat titles from past big time supporters like Lucas Arts.

Fact is Nintendo can win the next generation without Nex-Box,PS4 level graphics. All they need is the games the exclusive content that can't be found on the competitors platforms. If Nintendo can offer MMO's and RTS and other genre's and experiances not found on PS4,Nex-Box then Nintendo yet again has a great chance at dominating the generation.

Graphical power does not translate into sales or profits!
