I agree with everything you've said, Rol. Which is rare.

The Zelda series needs a bit of a change before it becomes stale (well, more than it already is...). As for Metroid? I dunno. I've liked the Prime series and Super Metroid and Other M, so I don't mind.

I like the map drawing idea though. However, if you reckon Nintendo will ever go strictly top-down (as opposed to PH, ST etc.), then you'd be wrong. They'll want to show off the 3D effects with a 3D game. OoT proved that.

I am not delusional. I don't expect Nintendo to make absolutely fantastic games at this point. They'll only go back to that when they see no other way anymore.

With Miyamoto being against 2D Mario, Aonuma's weird idea of Zelda and Sakamoto spitting on Metroid, there's not much hope for the immediate future. The Wii U will have to flop first (and it most likely will), before they reconsider their approach to game development.

But if the WiiU does flop (which it most likely won't), then they'll be too scared to go back to what they used to do in fear of alienating their new fans, disappointing old-time fans and not drawing in the new crowd, so they'll go onto creating something completely different anyway.

I just don't see it happening, sadly. But let's face it. If you want to play a game like Super Metroid or Zelda 1, play Super Metroid or Zelda 1. They aren't going anyway...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
