Why is the DSXL and the 3DS basically the same price?

The DS models still sell well, so there's no reason for Nintendo to drop the price, especially because they need all the money they can get right now.

You think with all the money Nintendo has in their savings, they would open up new game studios or try to get 3rd party exclusives. Did they even try this gen?
