Yah actually 250$ might be a little cheap. If the US dollar does continue to collapse and the Yen continue to grow the price might have to be much higher. I mean if Nintendo is going to turn a profit on the hardware it could end up as high as 300$.
lol no I think 250$ is probably the price range Nintendo will go for. They aren't likely to take another hit on each unit with a hardware revision. Cheaper hardware costs won't change the fact that the extended battery and Circle Pad Pro will both add to the cost and surely Nintendo will also have another feature or two up their sleeves. So 250$ is completely reasonable.
As for the 2013 time frame, Nintendo won't likely launch the new model in 2012 like many are suggesting. Nintendo rarely launches two new hardware devices the same year. Its not a bright business idea, also as you said prices are going down but they aren't going to be low enough next year for an advanced model of 3DS to sell at a profit at 250$ let alone any less of an amount.
The question is whether Nintendo will try to return 3DS to profitability or whether they will take heavier losses with a remodel!
