- increases 3DS’s battery by 4.4 times - comes in Cosmo Black or Aqua Blue colors - ¥9,800 ($126) |
I think I'd rather buy a second 3DS, LOL.

Imagine if this was for the DS. That's like 48 hours of gameplay. I get to play and beat pokemon in one sitting! I will never have to leave the house ever again!

Makes sense, i mean if it multiplies by 4.4 that's basically 3.4 extra 3DS batteries, so the price isn't a stretch if we assume the battery in the 3DS costs $30 (or at least would be sold for $30 with markup)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
I was ready to come in here and make an "I'll buy it at a high price" joke, but Christ alive.
Nintendo should do something like this and integrate it with the 3DS hardware so that it is ergonomically comfortable
that's one extreme battery, gets the job done though, you'd never need to charge the system for weeks with this attached :P

Nintendo probably will, I'd bet the new model has 2x the battery power and the Circle Pad Pro retailing at 249.99$ in 2013.

i agree but these long term prediction of 2013 are kind of over the top
and it surely wouldn't retail for $249,till then costs will come down and with impeding dollar collapse and crisis coming next year
they won't even drem of selling for $249

Yah actually 250$ might be a little cheap. If the US dollar does continue to collapse and the Yen continue to grow the price might have to be much higher. I mean if Nintendo is going to turn a profit on the hardware it could end up as high as 300$.
lol no I think 250$ is probably the price range Nintendo will go for. They aren't likely to take another hit on each unit with a hardware revision. Cheaper hardware costs won't change the fact that the extended battery and Circle Pad Pro will both add to the cost and surely Nintendo will also have another feature or two up their sleeves. So 250$ is completely reasonable.
As for the 2013 time frame, Nintendo won't likely launch the new model in 2012 like many are suggesting. Nintendo rarely launches two new hardware devices the same year. Its not a bright business idea, also as you said prices are going down but they aren't going to be low enough next year for an advanced model of 3DS to sell at a profit at 250$ let alone any less of an amount.
The question is whether Nintendo will try to return 3DS to profitability or whether they will take heavier losses with a remodel!
