Who says that's the hottest new book? Hunger Games is far more popular. I'm most anticipating the latest and last Wheel of Time novel.
Oh and there's nothing wrong with how games garner hype. If people didn't care as much about new game releases then they would be treated as books, with as little fanfare as non-Harry Potter books get. And visa-versa. If people obsessed over new books as much as they do over new games and movies then there would be a whole industry devoted to digesting every crumb of rumor regarding the the publishers and authors.
