If I do get a large drink, it'll usually last about half the day. 
For example, at McDonalds (where they're having a promotion that every single drink, any size, is priced at $1.00), I'll drink maybe half of it during a sit down... and then go for the free refill once I'm about to leave.
I'm sure Radish-head will make use of this as he's walking around DC.
