i have rune factory frontier. havent played it more than two hour though sadly.

You might not be able to get into Tides of Destiny, the beginning is the slowest of any of the Rune Factory games.

well they really didnt make much of the runeys in the game, they said that doing shit with them gave bonuses, i didnt really care...and then everything i tried to grow died. i couldnt even make food for my animals and buying it was way to expensive. almost all the runeys were dead. i tried fixing it and it was just taking way too much time and even having to maintain them after they are fixed seemed way too much.

its just so fucked that they force that aspect of the game on people. bonuses for them are one thing...but destroying my game for not doing them is a whole other story.

To maintain standard crop growth, just make sure you don't have less than 5 Runeys in each area - I think that takes some attention maybe 2-3 times a game year; they work in a sort of a food chain, so grass at the bottom, then tree, then rock, and then water. It only takes any real amount of work if you want prosperity bonuses. So mostly every season or two, you should take grass Runeys from your homestead and distribute them around - the higher numbers of Runeys you have, the more often you`ll have to do this - but also the more profitable you`ll be. The Grass Runey Factory is good for hardcore play to maintain levels about 35 of each type per area, distributing each Weekend day to make sure the grass Runeys are at a level of 60 in each area - this will give maximum crop bonuses.

However, if you take the farming path, you`re going to want to use water Runeys to create the Rainy days miracle if you have lots of crops; this helps greatly boost productivity by a huge amount and actually ends up saving you time; Water Runeys are at the top of the chain; so they are the most expendable as well.

If you`re a player not interested in farming, and instead wish to adventure, mine, collect, fish, craft, etc.... Then Runeys are not something you need to really care about except for visual purposes.
