Being first to market will automatically give the Wii U a pretty good head start, but it will need to be able to compete with Xbox 720/PS4 on both the graphics / technology level and the overall content / entertainment value level.
With M$ obviously going for the "one box fits all" approach for all your multimedia and entertainment needs with their latest announcement for Xbox Live, and Sony most likely following suit, that could leave Nintendo out in the cold and stranded in the middle of their own "blue ocean."
