The Piledriver core is an upgrade to Bulldozer. The only difference is the reduced core count (but 4 is plenty for games) and the onboard GPU (which you can ignore and just use a discrete one. It's on the same process so clockspeeds should be similar.) Not sure whether it has L3 cache or not or how that affects its performance. Were you thinking of Bobcat, AMD's core for tablets and ultraportables? It will replace Llano's price segment so it will be $70-$150. After that, in 2013 will come "Steamroller" on 28nm (Globalfoundries 28nm SOI, so better than the GPU process). No one knows when 22/20nm products are coming. |
I wasn't thinking of Bobcat, I just can't imagine a fusion CPU be stronger than a dedicated.
