He didn't say it's like Gears of War in sales, he said it has a similar hype (in conjunction with the brand). I would agree, as Gran Turismo is the PlayStation's equivalent to Halo, Uncharted is that for Gears, despite which one sells a million or so more.

My point is the pre orders don't reflect Uncharted having similar hype as Gears. Not even in the ball park. It took Uncharted 2 over a year, price cuts, and bundling to reach the sales Gears 2 did in about 8 weeks. Clearly one had more hype.
