You don't *slip* and make a racially charge comment. It's there all along. And folks that choose that route deserve to be canned - and sued, in my opinion. There is absolutely no need or place for this kind of foolishness.

Agreed. That kind of quote can't even be taken 'out of context' like they usually claim.

I'm not saying that it wasn't a horrible thing to say. All I'm saying is that people make mistakes. We all do. We have all said insensitive things before in our lives. Maybe not racially insensitive, maybe not gender insensitive, maybe not orientation insensitive, but insensitive. Just from the gamers I hear every day yell "GAY" whenever they die online, I know that this problem is more common than we think.

I cannot support firing somebody unless the comment is truly indicative of evilness. IMO, Imus' comments qualify for a firing, this one did not. Just my opinion.

I hear you. I know about the GAY statements. I am a bleeding liberal, and really don't want to offend anyone. Besides, I just hate anyone talking badly about another race. We're all created equal - and there's no need to talk about a race - individuals, sure, but not a race (Maybe the teletubies ...)

I think the reason the editor for the magazine got fired, as Dog was suspended indefinitely, is over advertisers bolting. Advertisers do not want to be associated with stuff like that. Otherwise, they may end up the targets of boycotts and the like. Like MSNBC and NBC - quite a few advertisers told them - If Imus stays, we go. The networks wouldn't risk losing them, so Imus goes.

Seriously, as I stated earlier, these kind of comments don't just come out. They're there. Just like a child. A child will curse if he/she hears their parents curse. Yeah, they can hear it from classmates, but parents would correct it. Otherwise, that kid's gonna cuss like a sailor.
