I honestly believe its in Nintendo's best interest to entirely drop DS. If DS were to be removed from store shelves entirely then 3DS sales would surge and it would benefit Nintendo's software sales as well. This being because 3DS is so closely priced to the DS its not worth keeping the DS around.
As for Wii, WiiU will be drastically more expensive and Nintendo could use the added reveniew from Wii sales to keep losses as low as possible. However I think all software support for Wii should be dropped as soon as WiiU launches. Its not in Nintendo's best interest to maintain software support for Wii, they need to give consumers incentive to upgrade to WiiU!
In the end I think 3DS and WiiU should be the only two platforms Nintendo supports with first party software after Mid 2012. Focus entirely on those two systems as they are the future. Nintendo needs to return the company to profitability at any and all costs. Sure DS and Wii could keep losses alittle lower however both platforms will stand in the way of WiiU and 3DS succeeding. As such I think Nintendo should most definatly focus on their future, Wii and DS may help offset losses in the short run, but Wii and DS won't survive long next generation. Its better for Nintendo to invest in the future rather then rely on the past!
