But surely at this point it would be a worse decision to get rid of the feature. Releasing a new model with two sticks or without 3D and dividing the install base would be a disaster IMO, it would just make customers lose confidence in the product. I don't know if the 3D approach was the correct one, possibly not (though I don't think it's its biggest liability either). Either way I believe they should just stick to it. They need to launch appealing games and advertise well before holidays.

Yes, at this point there probably is no turning back without axing the whole thing altogether. Kinda like Blu-ray on the PS3. It was supposed to be a major selling point, but it turned out that consumers didn't care enough for it which caused big problems.

Yeah, they were kind of forcing it onto the consumer instead of providing what the consumer wanted. At least Nintendo doesn't have the price point problem anymore, which was (still is probably) Sony's main misstep.
