i always wonder if game developers are really so stupid? first of all the used market is everywhere for all kinds of products. because people buy a lot used (cars/games/toys) they have more money to spend for more products.

for example if i buy a new heavy rain i do this maybe because i could sell an other game i don't need anymore on ebay or another market.

he calculates:

2million sold and 1 million not sold because of the used market.

but they have to calculate:

1 million used market games so maybe 500k people waited for the used copy instead of buying it new (the others half wouldn't buy it otherwise) and of the 2 million new copies something like 250k bought it only because they got money for another used game. not to speak about other used markets for other products away of the games market where people save money which they can spend for videogames.

sure these are just fiction numbers but that's how they should calulate it not like a 5 years old child with no clue about how the world works.

maybe the time will come a game developer will read one of these threads to get it in the brain that they all calculate it totally wrong. and i did not even mention dlc's for example which they can sell to both groups of people who buy the game, the new buyers and the used copy buyers which means they sell more dlc's than they would without the used copy market.
