congrats, (at least if she says yes )

anyways, to those who think $1500 is much, the ring i bought cost roughly $3400 total. Not only that, tokilamockingbrd still needs to pay roughly $600-800 for the gold band and mounting it (more if he wants platinum)

I told my wife that I could have bought another motorcycle with the kind of money I spent on it, but I never actually told her how much until a year after we were married.

@tokilamockingbrd
My suggestion to you since the diamond is so expensive is this.

1) don't go to Kay (i personally can't stand the place and they overcharge). I went to a family run jewelry store near me that i trusted and got a good price for mounting and gold, plus they would customize to my hearts content (I designed quite the one of a kind ring if i do say so myself)

2) Get a 6 prong, platinum mount. For 2 reasons, first 6 platinum prongs is stronger than the more common 4 gold mounts, so you won't have to worry about it getting knocked out. Second gold will slowly deteriorate and you'll have to get the mount built back up every 5 years. Of course, if you don't really think that it will ever get knocked out, than you can save a little money by going with 4 prongs and gold.

3) if you get a platinum mount, then you'll need either palladium, white gold, or platinum for the actual band itself. I believe I went with white gold, but from what I understand, palladium looks the same but can never change back to a gold color (white gold can) and is cheaper than platinum.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
