Metal Gear Series Tops 30 Million Sold WorldWide

In 2012 Konami’s Metal Gear franchise will celebrate it’s 25th anniversary but this year the series marks another milestone. According to Kojima Productions’ manager of public relations, Jiro Oishi, since Snake’s adventures first began in 1987 Metal Gear games have sold over 30 million copies worldwide.

” The series “Metal Gear” has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. There may be other more impressive record, but if we take into account the platforms and the number of titles in the series, it’s awesome! “

With the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, 3DS and Vita titles and the long awaited Metal Gear: Rising  all in the pipeline, the Metal Gear Solid series will no doubt hit a new sales achievement in the near future.
