Not just the duct tape shortages RolStoppable mentioned (lots of tape was used for holiday related shipments).
But you're also mistaken. The Wii is 2 GC with a wiimote not 1 GC.
Thankfully you Sony fans won't have to worry about lack of production. Sony will keep demand low in order to ensure sufficient supply on the hardware and just keep delaying MGS, KZ, and all other big titles till nobody cares about them to make sure there are no supply shortages.
