"I haven't even tried second string games like Pilotwings, Nintendogs, Dead or Alive, or Splinter Cell and I bet I've logged in over 100 hours of gameplay in my first month. The 3DS will be fine."

Your personal experience is not proof the system is okay. The Gamecube and N64 would sell nearly as much as the PS1 and PS2 if personal experience sold systems beyond the user.

I'm not trying to prove anything except that the 3DS library is better in its first six months than the DS library was in its first six months(1) (which is still nothing more than my opinion).  And tossing in the Gamecube/N64?  These systems both launched in the neighborhood of a year later (give or take a few months) of their competition.(2)  Come on, man!

1. Well that's a different matter.

2. A head start is just another fallacy of what makes a hit system (whether or not it's the leader for a generation). Something about those systems turned people off, as it's not as though they were starving for multi-million sellers. Something about the 3DS is turning people off, and we'll soon see if that was the price.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
