If MGS4 and GT5 can significantly boost the PS3 sales in Japan. Both of them have the potential to be the first million seller PS3 title in Japan.
At the current PS3 userbase, there is no way any PS3 game can hit 1 million in Japan alone. The attached rate has to be >50% to achieve that. PS3 gamers are just too diversified and they like games from different genres. The Halo/Mario effects would never happen in playstation.
Xbox360? We should first wait for the console sales to reach 1 million in Japan
