One side effect of being a whistle blower is that you end up hurting a lot of friends and co-workers as a consequence of your actions, and can end up being "hated" for your actions. If someone was already an addict this could push them into a binge which could (quite easily) end in them dying of an overdose.

nah man, everything is like in the movies. Don't be so ignorant. Anyway the last thing the corporation needs is to have people think it is killing people that displease it. He already blew the whistle. No point in killing him anymore other than further weakening the corporation.
