I really want to see how Sony will pull this off. The Wii erased the 360 lead by doing two thingsL having a lower price point and bringing nongamers to the table. The PS3 doesn't have either.

In order to beat the 360, Sony will have to lower its price to compete directly with the 360, or have games that are clearly superior than the 360. If not, the price will keep folks away. And folks talk about the PS2 owners will migrate naturally to the PS3. Why should they? Sony has told them they need to drop the last gen and roll with them. They removed BC because it was expendable, and then expect PS2 owners to sell their systems and just jump to the PS3. I would consider that a slip in the face. If you want me to buy your product, let me KEEP MY GAMES.

Folks are living in the past - remembering what an awesome - yet broken - system the PS2 was. The PS3 isn't the PS2, and you can bet your bottom dollar Sony will come out first next time and try to secure its past street cred.

Sony needs some serious dementia meds ...

Well, I also agree that eventually PS2 owners will migrate over to PS3. Of course not all of them, I would never expect something like that.

The reason for this is that just today, for the 2nd time in 3 weeks a co-worker was asking me what he could get if he sold and/or traded his PS2 and games to Gamestop or eBay. Of course I told him to go with eBay.

The reason he was asking was because he wanted to upgrade to a PS3. I also hit him with the Sony card offer for $100 back on PS3 purchase and he liked the sound of $300 PS3.

As for my opinion on the topic at hand, I would want to think sometime in mid-late 09. This year has guaranteed hits for sure with MGS4, LBP, KZ2, DMC4, GT5 among others. Great thing I think is that these are not spinoffs or sequels to anything else already released on this console (does Prologue count?). LBP is just an amazing concept, it is original and fresh, user created content makes it that much sweeter too. I would buy a PS3 just for this.

I am also very curious to see what HOME can do for the PS3. Not to mention whether or not the victory over HD-DVD will factor in at all.

So many questions at this point, although the outlook is positive.

If somehow (most likely) Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII get delayed to early 09', I still see Sony having a big 2008 from the other games being released this year.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
