It's confirmed. Sony is deliberately trying to throw away their game division.

Uh, I don't think they got the memo but, um, you're not supposed to release systems at HIGHER prices once you release a system. Something to do with buyer's gravity or something like that.

First of all isn't Korea a totally non-console market for the most part preferring to stick with PCs?

Secondly, yes isn't console gaming, a Japanese kind of thing, gonna run into added difficulty due to friction some Koreans and Japanese have towards one another? At least I've heard of historic beef between the Koreans and the Japanese.

And thirdly, don't they realize they'll run into the same problem they have everywhere else around the world with that premium price?

Sony has become a videogame industry blooper reel at this point! What's going on?

They're not going to release an 80GB model at a more expensive price, that would be ridiculous (even for Sony). No one will pay any more money for 33% more storage.

The likely reason is because 80GB HDD's are more price effective than 60GB. Hard drives in general don't get cheaper to build, just larger. This will most likely be a straight replacement of the 60GB model.

Expect to see an 80G model hit the rest of the world if they ever manae to sell through their current stock. They were probably expecting to be able to replace the60B model by now but have manufactured too many 60GB models.
