very interesting, Who are ARM, for a second i fought it was AMD. Anyways Mobile gaming can grow substantially in terms of graphics and performance but its let down by a simple flaw, Battery life. Until battery life improves mobile gaming wont be able to advance too far from were we are now, considering "Gaming Laptops" are basically un portable without the charger plug in, mobile phones need to have an battery life of at least bare min 12 hours which to provide such graphical performance as a ps3 or 360 would be a toll on the battery life.

I remember reading about the PSVita and how sony has put a quad core processor in it (cause they want it quickly in mass production to lower costs for future is the most likely reason) but they said they cant use its full power because full power used the battery in a few seconds.

So basically the mobile front is totally dependent on batteries and will always be.

ARM is the company that designes the CPUs used in like 99% of phones and tablets as well as the 3DS and PSVITA, their speciality is small, low power, low heat CPUs. Nvidia have a similar timetable for their Tegra chips in terms of power.

It won't be phones that are pushing PS360 graphics in 2013 but high end tablets could, and to get arround the battery problem while the device is running off the battery the device would underclock it's self and games would use low graphics but when you get home you could dock your tablet and use the full power to stream to your TV while you play.

Seeing what Golden Abyss dev's are pulling off with the Vita which uses ARM's tech, I wouldn't be suprised if mobile phones managed to do what they're promising by the end of 2013. This doesn't really strike me as special though because when the PSP released it was considered high-end because of Daxtar pushing what was considered 6th gen visuals. Technology's just advancing.

With what I saw in the Wii-U zelda tech demo, I have no doubts that PS4/720 will be well above anything handhelds can produce when they release. Just like PS360 out shined anything shown last gen and on handhelds at the time with Gears, MGS4, Lair and Uncharted.

I did find this silly though

"A mobile phone with high-end graphics will be a lot cheaper than paying hundreds of dollars for gaming consoles."

Most high-end phone right now cost more than consoles...
