Sad when OOT in Americas didn't sell as well as it did in Japan, considering Zelda isn't as hot in Japan. Neither did it move as many 3DS units, very close to where Japan hit. I hope Nintendo starts realizing that many still think this is an extension of the DS family and not a new system on its own.

OoT 3D in Americas has sold more in one week than Japan has in two weeks. Also, I'm not sure what you're talking about. Last week, 3DS sales for Americas were 20k, and this week they're 44k. That's a 24k boost, and Japan's first-week increase was 24k to 40k, which is only a 16k boost. You got your number wrongs in both areas.

Although, I completely agree that Nintendo needs to advertise the 3DS as a new platform. Even my entire family who I showed it to thought it was just another DS, even when I showed them the 3D. "So it's a DS with 3D?"

Compare that to sales of the 3DS in Japan when OOT released

Japan approx 40,000

America approx 44,000  (couldn't even surpass the DS)

approx: 166,000 to 215,000 isn't something to brag about.

America is Nintendo's strongest region yet only surpasses Japan 3DS sales by 4,000 and 49,000 in software.

Yeah, it isn't anything to brag about, but you just said in general it didn't sell as well, so I took it more literally.

OoT 3D is a remake/port. I'm not surprised it only sold so much hardware in the US, especially given that it's on the 3DS. Not only that, but a lot of Zelda fans could already own a 3DS in the US once they knew about Ocarina of Time (but this is obviously just a theory). Japan also got a bigger boost than I thought from OoT 3D, which to me explains the similar boosts. Japan is mostly back to normal, too. OoT may have a longer lasting affect for 3DS sales in the US than it did in Japan.

In terms of software sales, Japan and US were both apparently running out of stock in a lot of places (and Japan didn't recover with restocks until after its 2nd week). We'll see how the game legs out in both regions from here on out.
