Sound like the usual new platform chatter TBH, very few concrete pledges of support and a lot of hedging of bets, plenty of optimistic for new possibilities for old games. Sounds like they don't want to write it off like they did the Wii but not ready to get behind it in a big way.

From the article it seems like the Wii U is just going to be the box that publishers tack on some touch screen controls and use as a third platform for PS360 games, which will only last until MS and Sony launch their consoles and is not going to sell the console to current PS360 owners or existing Wii owners and I am doubtful many Wii owners are going to start buying a lot of "core" 3rd party content. That leaves Nintendo software to sell the system and will lead to 3rd parties jumping ship when their quick money grab ports fail to sell half of what N games sell and a console that only appeals Wii exclusive gamers and people that want to play HD Nintendo game. It's a pity a console with so much potential is going to fail due to bad positioning by everyone involved.

Not to say it's all doom and gloom, Nintendo software will sell and that will sell plenty of hardware (just not anywhere near Wii numbers) and Nintendo could come out with some truly compelling software that will carries the console to the point where it has enough market share to where it is a viable console for 3rd party B projects (in terms of budget think No More Heros) like the Wii got with most big 3rd party games getting quick ports so there will be more veriaty in software than the Wii at least for the first few years...
