We're close enough to the end of the quarter that I feel reasonably confident in making this statement:
All hardware (save for 3DS which wasn't out) will be down in April - June 2011 (13 weeks ending July 1) compared to April - June 2010 (13 weeks ending July 3). X360 is basically flat but still trending for a slightly down quarter, and everything else is trending down 15-60% from Q2 2010. I'm not going to go into the specifics since I'm forecasting the last two weeks of this quarter, but excluding 3DS, hardware will be down over 30% from Q2 2010.
Figures are becoming increasingly negative too, as X360 was up in Q2 2011 vs. Q1 2010, and PS3 was nearly flat (down slightly), although the Wii cut has sliced off quite a bit of the Wii decline (May 15 - June 18 2011 is down 13% against that time in 2010, compared to -34% roughly in H1 and -28% in Q2) in line with Nintendo's forecast (15.1m --> 13m = -14%). PSP and DS are increasingly down since the 3DS launched as well.
I'll have more on this in two weeks, with full regional splits and multiplatform software - this is just a heads up.
