Yes, it's a shame they moved away from the language used in The Wind Waker, which I believe wasn't directly derivative of katanaka.
By the way, the mysterious 'green Navi' phenomenon in the Royal Tomb is actually a promt for you to play the Sun's Song. I had an inkling that I had discovered the secret long ago, so I went back to check it out. What it does is to spawn a kind of 'light spirit' which heals Link. Once you've summoned a spirit, others light up when you approach them elsewhere (like the aforementioned Death Mountain example).
