| MrT-Tar said: I don't think Square-Enix really wanted to release it on the Wii anyway. You would think that if a publisher was developing what is almost certainly their most high profile home console exclusive of the 7th gen, they would release some other games for the platform before. All that S-E has done for the Wii is a chocobo game, crystal bearers and DQ Swords (which was developed by Nintendo anyway). S-E were really hesitant to jump on the VC bandwagon as well, they didn't do so until 2008. I don't want to start the whole 'where will KH3 go?' shitstorm, but there is no doubt in my mind that the Wii should've got a KH game. S-E could've easily taken advantage of the Wii, but they just decided to do nothing bar DQX, which is now even looking shaky. Seriously WTF S-E? |
Given their track record I'd say releasing DQX on Wii is more like the strange exception than the rule... Maybe Nintendo money-hatted them.
The story with Monster Hunter doesn't look a whole lot better, really. Instead of one on rails spinoff Capcom gave us two. Both had their strange experimental games on the platform (Crystal Bearers and Zack & Wiki), both had a few other minor releases and weird ports (the DS FFCC game that came to Wii, that arcade Dragon Quest port, the Dead Rising port etc.)
A very peculiar console generation indeed.
Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
