You don't need a separate basket, fine. Don't talk about others. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5406-WFZC-5519 And especially this: http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=online_conduct
My favourite parts: * Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others. Defame? Call someone an idiot and get your 100 games removed. Nice! I avoid calling people idiots, I am not an ass * Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying Steam services, software or other content. Does that include owning some noob on mp games or maybe kicking some annoying kid from your own server? Who knows. No it doesn't or 90% steam users would be banned * Piracy or hacking - This includes using an unauthorized ("hacked") Steam client to access Steam, attempting to register fake CD Keys or attempting to register a CD Key which has been published on the internet. You could get banned for attempting to register a fake key. There are plenty of sites which sell cd-keys, if you happen to buy one fake key from some site you will lose all your games. How about a typo? That could be an attempt to register a "fake" key. I have had a qouple of typos while entering a cd key before I havn't been banned * Any fraudulent credit card use, credit card chargebacks, or Paypal chargebacks (regardless of when the transaction occurred). Paypal does chargebacks on their own sometimes (security reasons), you will lose all your games if this happens you will lose all of your games. Also this gives steam the right take your money and not to give you the license for the game. You can't have your money back by CC-companies because you would lose all your games. I don't use a debet card and games are a luxery item so I only buy then when I have enough disposable income * Do not use Steam accounts which you did not create. * Accounts which have been bought, sold or traded will be suspended. This includes any other accounts in your possession at the time of the sale or trade, regardless of whether those accounts were also sold or not. Don't even think of trying a game which your friend bought or YOU WILL BE BANNED! Also, don't even consider of selling these games/account that you have "bought" from us. Hey, if you sell one account which you have created 5 years ago, you will lose your current account with all the games you have "bought". I have used freinds accounts before and others have used my mine, unless you are an idiot and try logging on the same account on multiple computers more than once they currently have no way of knowing. They make it clear you can't sell or trade accounts, just don't buy from them if you don't like it, only a problem if you deliberatly violate the TOS. * Valve reserves the right to change our fees or billing methods at any time and Valve will provide notice of any such change at least thirty (30) days advance. All changes will be posted as amendments to this Agreement or in the Rules of Use (e.g. Steam release notices) and you are responsible for reviewing the billing section of Steam to obtain timely notice of such changes. Your non-cancellation of your Account or an affected Subscription thirty (30) days after posting of the changes on Steam means that you accept such changes. If any change is unacceptable to you, you may cancel your Account or a particular Subscription at any time as described below, but Valve will not refund any fees that may have accrued to your Account before cancellation of your Account or Subscription, and Valve will not prorate fees for any cancellation. If your use of Steam is subject to any type of use or sales tax, then Valve may also charge you for any such taxes, in addition to the Subscription or other fees published in the Rules of Use. The European Union VAT ( “VAT ”) tax amounts collected by Valve reflect VAT due on the value of any Software or Subscription as well as import VAT collected which is to be paid to the tax authorities for the importation of Merchandise. If Valve decides to put a monthly fee, lets say 50$ a month you have either agree on that or lose all your games. That is a pretty big if and if they did they will likely lose most if not all customers unless they offered something worth the fee, something like pay a fee and have access to all games on steam or game streaming. Ether way I make my purchuses in full knowlage, and if they did I would just crack all my games anyway. * Valve may terminate your Account or a particular Subscription for any conduct or activity that Valve believes is illegal, constitutes a Cheat, or which otherwise negatively affects the enjoyment of Steam by other Subscribers. You acknowledge that Valve is not required to provide you notice before terminating your Subscriptions(s) and/or Account, but it may choose to do so. Oh so if they believe, they can terminate your account. They don't even need to inform you! How convinient. And most services of this type have similar clauses, doesn't mean they will ever use it without strong evidence, they are a business and blocking customers is bad for business. How can you be sure that you don't "inhibit someone's enjoyment of steam" or that paypal happens to make a chargeback? I know that you most likely will not be banned for kicking someone out from your server, but TOS gives Valve the option to ban your account for just about anything you do. |
It's not hard to avoid being banned, and I don't see how publishers making their games exclusive to their own services which all have the simillar TOS exept if you are banned from them you have no other way of getting the game. Steam is a very long way from being perfect but is by far not the worst ether, and it's not like they are going to go out of their way to get rid of their customers, just because they can do something doesn't mean they will.
Also many of the TOS that steam has is to keep the publishers happy.
