And add

Pretty much every trend for the next 15 years in this industry was covered by the Dreamcast.

ealier companies like atari also had other innovations creditted ( unfairly ) to nintendo like analog sticks ( first found on the vectrex ) and light guns ( magnavox )

Sorry but Analog stick was an innovation if you compare it to the vectrex, what you are looking for is invention or creation. 

no analog sticks were not invented for the vectrex im pretty sure that they were first used for pc applications but they were innovated for use on the vectrex an innovation that was later picked up by nintendo

My mistake it was. However I do believe Nintendo does deserve the credit, because the second part of innovation is making something sucessful and excuted correctly. 

Typically the second part: 

"While both invention and innovation have "uniqueness" implications, innovation is related to acceptance in society, profitability, and market performance expectation."  - I use a similar defination, however mine might because I look at everything from a business standpoint, when it comes to Innovation. 

Add: I typically view innovation as a sucessful introduction of a method or idea. Thus why a lot of people are going to give the credit to Pseye as the first Camera, or Xbox Live as the first online gaming, or Sony Playstation as the first media device.
