Damn, those ideas are something. Hope developers have the same imagination.... or even take a look at threads like that There's no need for you to buy 3 extra controllers, have your friends bring theirs. If they put up a bundle of the controllers plus a game (kinda like wiiplay) people we'll get a second controller; have friends come over with their controllers and there you go, you have 4 tablets w/o spending $300 extra.... |
Yup. I thought of that as well but only some time after I wrote the above. But I seriously doubt that technically the WiiU (or any reasonably priced console at this point in time with current technology ) would be able to support 4 controllers with different streams. If Nintendo are considering anything beyond 1, it is 2 controllers, and reading what Iwata says (see below), it is obvious he hasn't thought about the idea of friends bringing the controller over.... -
" In the future, we may look at what other opportunities there are for gameplay and, how having two of those controllers might create fun or interesting new styles of play, but of course in doing that, it would require a consumer to purchase an additional controller. Therefore, we would need to carefully consider how we could create such an experience and, potentially, how we could ensure that there would be enough value within that experience for the consumer to accept that cost and make that purchase." http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/110608qa/05.html
BTW, the way Iwata talks about the cost of the extra controller (especially "how we could ensure that there would be enough value within that experience for the consumer to accept that cost"), it seems to me an extra one may cost even more than $100...
