Despite the fact that the new controller doesn't attract me, it's ridiculous for a console to not allow multiple of its own controllers.

The wii motes are part of it's controller set. Just think of the wiimotes as the real WiiU controller and the touch pad as a mandatory peripheral. Nobody needed two balance boards and you don't need two touchpads especially when we know they'd probably cost more than 100 a piece. How many controllers do you actually have for your ps3 or 360? I'm guessing probably two at the most. None of my friends have more then two because everyone plays online nowadays. I bet most of your multiplayer gaming is online as well. Outside of party games how often do you need to break out more than one or two controllers. I only get to use all four of my wiimotes maybe 3 or 4 times a year and frankly I regret I bought so many of them since I don't use them frequently.
