How many hardcore gaming experinces are actually local multiplayer nowadays?

If you want more than one WiiU pad then you probably need a 500 dollar piece of hardware to be able to stream HD video to all 4 pads. Or they'd reduce the quality of the stream to maybe only 480P or something.
