You should probably have had a mod move the old thread, instead of making a dupe.

I didn't think mods were able to do that?

I think they can now. Either way, with gamrRewards, dupe threads can be considered point whoring and get you banned from the game if a mod thinks you're cheating. Dupe threads = not good.
