We shouldn`t see the continuation or abandon of motion controllers by the games Nintendo released, we should also look how 3rd parties used. But more importantly - and this is where it does matter - how the market views that kind of playability. Thing is, it`s just what the mass market seems to like more and you can see that on how Wii Sports made an impact till this day and how Kinect was a big hit aswell.
So, in my view, Nintendo won`t abandon motion controllers. Of course, what remains to be seen is: it seems that the new controller will tablet like, so, one can assume it will have some sort of motion or gyroscope technology as tablets do. But Nintendo can do that and still bring to the market a updated Wii remote seeing as people or familiar with it.
If Nintendo decided to not persue that kind of playability i would sincerely be shocked.
