i

What? Sony recently anounced that 150 million units of PS2's have been shipped, VGC numers should be very accurate with those figures. Also Sony recently had a press cnference at the end of April.

I know there will be adjustments, but the fact is PSP is selling below PS2 sales in Americas, and even with an adjustment, I don't think ales will be that much higher.

Man why do people always burn me on Sony? I said negative things about all the consoles, and people always want to dispue Sony. Too many Sony fans on this site, not a good representation of the market.

i dont understand the bolded. Sony announced about 6 months ago, that 150 million ps3 have been shipped VGchartz has it around 140 million. meaning undertracked. So what exactly are you trying to say, i dont really follow.

as for the other stuff, wait for shipment figures, all Sony consoles will be adjusted up

What don't you understand? my gramer is correct.

Sony announced shipping over 150 million units in 2011, not 6 months ago.

Also VGC has PS2 at 142.8 million sold, which may be a little undertracked, but not by as much as some people claim.

Get your facts straight before critisizing me again.

Thank you Ethomaz, I was not aware that the Tsunami postponed the Sony Press Conference. I think I read that somewhere, but completly forgot. I'll be looking forward to seeing how much PSP sales get adjusted.

i wasnt criticizing you, i didnt know what you meant.

nothing was wrong with your grammar.

sony announced they shipped over 150 million a long time ago (i believe around Christmas). like you said vgchartz has it at 143 million. thats 7 million undertracked.

are you joking that they have it undertracked  by a little, are you serious.  7 MILLION, thats A TON!!!!

I don't think I ever said PS2 is being undertracked by a little, I only said less then people are estimating. You initially said 10 million without giving it much thought, now you say 7 million. Do you think every PS2 console is sold the second it is shipped? PS2 is sold to more countries then any other video game console has ever been (except maybe the original gameboy), and it's at the end of it's lifespan.

It only makes sense that retailers have some extra supply of consoles on shelves. Maybe they only have 3-4 million units stocked up, but that still brings down the undertracking of the console. I feel PS2 is undertracked by 2-5 million, 5 million being an extreme case. That is still substantial, but 10 million, that's just ridiculous.

okay my friend

i said ten million because i didnt feel like looking it up, and i was rounding.

also Sony announced 150m shipped around Nov- Jan-ish, i dont remember. but Sony has surely sold 1million plus since then.

also ps2's sell at a vey slow rate, so shipped figures will nearly = sold. there is wayyy less than 1 miilion on selves, theres less than 1 million ps3 on selves, and that sell much more, faster. So it is very likely that the current sold figure is ~150 million, so about 7 million undertracked.

also for the bolded

"Also VGC has PS2 at 142.8 million sold, which may be a little undertracked, but not by as much as some people claim."

but its no big deal.

Sony announced 150 million in 2011. I recall this because aroud January 1st 2011 VGC made an article talking about expected gaming trends, and seeing PS2 cross 150 million units shipped was on that list. It then happened about a month after.

PS2's sell at a very slow rate, but it's also sold to the most regions worldwide. Sold shouldn't be too close to units shiped because every retailer should have at least 1 PS2 on hand, and it doesn't go anywhere. Also unlike PS3, PS2 has been in development for a long time, and it's not going to see any new Slim model or official bundle, so Sony has no trouble keeping ample supply. In the case of PS3, they are still developing it to be cheaper, so if they shipped a lot of units now, and sold them later when the PS3 production costs are down, profits would be down.

Ontop of that, PS2 still sell well in regions where PS3 is not sold, or only recently released (meaning within 2 years). There must be hundreds of thousands of retailers, and I just can't picture every retailer only having 1-3 PS2 consoles on hand.

Regardless, it is undertracked. Weather by 7 million, or 2-5 million, it's undertracked. I just highly doubt only 1 million PS3's are on store shelves. I recall last September it was closer to 2 million, but it's a slower time of the year.

As for me stating PS2 being a little undertracked, you should read the rest of the sentance. Maybe I shouldn't have included the term little, but in the grand scheme, my point was that it's not as undertracked by s much as people claim.
