Wow common, your too hard on me. PSP in Americas is oviously doing better then 360 in Japan. I know PSP sales will be adjusted in Americas, I just don't beleive it will be by too much. PSP sales were aproaching PS2 sales before the price drop, assuming a large adjustment, I still don't think PSP sales will be near DS, 3DS, Wii, PS3, or 360 sales in Americas. PSP is trailing behind, it's not quite dead yet, but in my eyes, with so few titles upcoming, it's basically dead to me. So I don't take back what I said about PSP being dead in Americas, and I don't see any reason to.

Also, only 3 months ago Sony announced PS2 shippments were 150 million. This means sales are likely 3-5 million below that. VGC has PS2 at about 143 million units sold. PS2 may be undertracked, but not by 8-10 million, more like 2-5 million.

Yes, you're right about the bolded. So they're likely at about 151.5 million right now. VGChartz has it at 142.8 million so there's an 8.7 million difference. So my original 8-10 million undertracked was probably a bit too high, it's more likely to be about 7-8 million. There aren't a lot of PS2s on shelves so I don't see how they could only be undertracking it by 2-5 millions.

I also believe ioi has admitted before that the PS2 is greatly undertracked on here but I think he isn't sure where to put the difference.

Do you think Sony ships PS2 consoles every day? Also 1.5 million more units shipping in 3 months? That would imply 6 million shipments a year, for 2011 (remember holidays increase sales dramatically). PS2 only sold 4.6 million units worldwide last year, why would it go up this year?

At best PS2 is at 151 million units shipped, and with EMEAA data for this week VGC has PS2 at 143 million. The different in units shipped from VGC's units sold is about 8 million.

Now you claim you don't see many PS2's on shelves, well what region do you live in? Most PS2 sales are to rural regions in EMEAA where either PS3/360 aren't sold their yet, or they are relatively new consoles. Of the 4.59 million PS2 units sold, only 1.87 million were to retailers in Americas. Out of curiosity how many EB Games/Gamestops/Wal-Marts/Toys R Us/Target/.... do you think there are in Canada, USA, Brazil, Mexico, and the rest of the Americas region? I'd say there was at least 1 video game retailed per 1,000 people, expand the population to 500 million people, that's about 500,000 retailers. Now retailers don't stock consoles for an entire year, maybe 3 months or so, so the about 2 million units sold last year should roughly translate to 1 console per retailer per 3 months.

You shouldn't be seeing too many PS2's on store shelves for VGC numbers to be remotely accurate. If you see 1 per store, then VGC is at least tracking sales of PS2's in Americas fine.

I think 2-5 million units undertracked is spot on. If the difference between VGC sold and Sony shipped is 8 million, I can't see VGC undertracking PS2 by more then 6 million. 5 Million I think is extreme enough when you consider how many countries and retailers throughout Europe, Asia, The Middle East and Africa have. you kind of have to overship in order for every retailer to have even a single PS2 console.
