| oniyide said: @nitekrawler japanese have been making dating games for years, if your talking about in a social context in terms of online. Myspace and FB have beaten the consoles to the punch years ago. a tooth brush game??? im sure its on Wii, hell ive seen a damn fire place simulator, thats not even a game. But you think kids will like that? If i gave a game like that to my nephews OR nieces theyll throw it right in the trash |
Those games have No presence in the west unless you are thinking about otaku playing true love. Street Pass could make a dating sim with social integration even better. Myspace and FB don't really help you socialize with those in your immediate vicinity all that well as well as some things could be improved by more gamey aspects that MS and FB lack.
Look up Epic Win on iphone. It's more along the idea I have about making mundane things that kids need to do into something fun by giving them loot and xp for it. If they got cool stuff for the xp and loot or their parents also rewarded them for finishing those lists of tasks we could be on to something huge it's just a matter of the right kind of positive reinforcement. Some people hardly consider Wii Sports, Play or Fit to be games but that doesn't mean they don't have good appeal and are enjoyable.
Games aren't just for kids. Though it's great to appeal to them because whining to your parents that you want something often works. They are not however the only demographic.
