Sports for example

That's debatable. SNES, saw extremely good support overall, there wasn't a single genre where it saw weak support.

Yes, but Genesis saw stronger, it was one of the reason that Genesis was able to grab so much marketshare, third parties did not like Nintendo and went to Sega, but even Secga didn;t really fulfill their needs, which was why they went to Sony in the generation afterwards

Um.... thats not true.  At all.  During the 16-bit generation, Sega was riding on first party support MORE then Nintendo.  Nintendo had MUCH better support from Konami and Capcom, and I believe Squaresoft and Enix were exclusively on Nintendo platforms at the time.  The only non-Sega games that people bought the platform for were sports games.  You did bring up sports, and if thats what you're referring to exclusively then I suppose you have a point.  Over all though, I disagree.

Nintendo got the actual numbered sequels in franchises such as Castlevania and Contra.  Sega got spin-offs.  They had the true sequel to Mega Man (Mega Man 7) as well as the true successor to the series in Mega Man X.  Sega got a compiliation of Mega Man 1-3 that didnt even see release in the states.

It was something like this.  You bought a Genesis for Sonic, Shining Force, Golden Axe, Toe Jam & Earl.... and maybe for some sports games.

You bought a Super Nintendo for Mario, Zelda, and Metroid, but also for the definitive version of Stree Fighter, for Final Fantasy, for Dragons Quest, for Mega Man, and for all the other third party goodness.
