I agree FPS sell better in the Americas. I have noticed games like Viva Pinata and some other forgettable games get very large sales on the 360. I may be in the minority of game feel, but it seems to me that every Capcom game has horrible controls, most 3rd party games on the PS3 also suffer from this. COD for me is just boring and tends to suffer from the same control issues. In my experience the 360 has this issue with most of their games. Halo and Gears to me were not that great. Sure they sold a lot but for me sales don't mean it is a great game. If we went by that logic then the Wii was the best console this generation and Top Ramen was the best food in the US. |
What control issues are you talking about? What I don't like about CoD on PS3 is shooting with the R1 button instead of the trigger R2 button. Just feels wrong. That's the only control issue I can imagine. The 360 controller is really well designed for shooters, I mean the RT and LT buttons are trigger buttons, shaped like the trigger to a gun.
Sales don't mean a great game at all, they just mean an acessable game with a broad audience, and proper hype. Mario Kart is a fun as hell game, but the reason it sells so well is because everyone can play it and have fun. Not just gamers too, girls, parents, young children, anyone. Call of Duty is a pretty simplistic shooter, and so is Halo. Not to mention these games established themselves early on, so all they have to do to gain sales is release a new game with minor tweaks every now and then. Games like Killzone and Battlefield have to define themselves, which is hard when people don't easily switch over franchises.
In the end, everyone has their preferences. This is why you should judge a game by reviews, and your own experience in store, at a friends, or in a demo. I mean I think Metroid Prime 3 is the best shooter this generation, and it's sales don't back that up.
