Hmm looks like Socom 4 is gonna pass KZ3 in terms of pre-orders.

Kilzone 3 SOCOM 4 Net Difference
Week 5 10,535/82,240 8,492/87,459 5,219 (6.3%)
Week 4 12,635/94,875 16,374/103,831 8,956 (9.4%)
Week 3 13,842/108,717 16,183/120,014 11,297 (10.5%)
Week 2 12,651/121,368
Week 1 27,231/148,599

Looks to be the case, unless SOCOM 4 stops getting pre-orders.

I find this shocking, Killzone 2 and 3 were really great games, and the last SOCOM was pure garbage. Where did Sony advertize this new SOCOM to generate so much interest?

Socom 2 was one of the best shooters last generation. And its being made by the same team (Zipper). The last Socom was made by another team, everyone who has played Socom knows this.

I know that, but how many real gamers know this? However Killzone 2 was almost as big in scope as PS2 SOCOMs, and it's been a long time since Zipper made a good SOCOM game. I think people like us, are a minority. I doubt that most gamers know anything about who develops a game, except for maybe the developers name.

I was just saying that I would think that since the last SOCOM was garbage, that that should have hurt sales. Clearly it hasn't affected pre-orders. I'm just wondering when did Sony start advertizing this game? I have yet to see a SOCOM ad.

SOCOM fans keep their ear to the ground for this stuff, so that combined with the beta.

Well it's also the first main series SOCOM since 2005. Looking at prior SOCOM sales, I guess the popularity of this game flew under my radar. I never liked SOCOM, but I don't like Call of duty much either.

Hope it breaks 3 million, Sony is giving PS3 fans a lot to look forward too.
