It's been really funny when showing people the 3D effects of the 3DS. I'll pop it out and turn it on, and right away they'll say how it's "weird" and it "hurts my eyes.". Of course, after that I'll actually give them the 3DS and position it so they're not looking at it from an angle. It's always the same expression: their eyes go wide and they exclaim "Wow! That's so cool!" Heck, even my friend who will pledge alliegance to Apple until his dying day told me how impressive the system is after playing SSFIV.
So yeah, the 3D effect provides something many people haven't seen before, and it's definitely something that gains their interest at first glance. I think Nintendo could have another big success with this, especially if word goes around like it did for the Wii.
Also... I got my first StreetPass friend yesterday when going through the mall. There is someone in Charlotte with a 3DS afterall!
