lol i upgraded mine to 500gig a week ago.

step 1: just go to a computer store (not gamestop or best buy ect a acual computer store where they sell PCs laptops ect ect) and just ask if they sell PS3 hard drives (it has to be a 2.5 inch SATA 5400RPM Hard drive )

Step 2: ull need any external hard drive now this is the tricky part, the external hardrive has to be type FAT32 to work with ps3 to check if it is just go to my computer right click the external hard drive and click format then go down to file system click the drop down menu and if it doesnt have FAT32 then u must download SWISSKNIFE program (just google it) once downloaded install and thats it... (nothing needs to be done with the program just install and ur done) then just go back to external hard drive right click > format and in the drop down menu it should have FAT32 then select

Step 3: now that your external hard drive is FAT32 and will work with PS3s plug it into ur PS3 via USB go to system settings > backup Utility then back up all your ps3 memory onto the external hard drive

Step 4: then unplug ur ps3 take out cords and everything then take out ur old ps3 hard drive and replace with new hard drive (check utube videos on how to do it or if ur smart ull figure it out)

Step 5:plug external hard drive back in turn on ps3 and then just go back to backup utility then click restore, DONE

the part below is ONLY IF STEP 5 DOES NOT WORK

some people run into another problem where STEP 5 does not work ok somtimes when u get to step 5 and when you turn ps3 back on once new hard drive is installed something will come up telling you to install lastest ps3 software or somthing like that (ull just know if it happens) its simple all u gota do is go to offical ps3 site and download the lastest firmware update for ps3 (you downlaod ONTO your computer) once downloaded u gota put it into the external hard drive AS THE EXACT FOLDERS ok you save the ps3 update into a folder called "UPDATE" (all caps) then you save that folder into a folder called "PS3" (all caps) so PS3 > UPDATE > *the downloaded update* --- then you plug the external hard drive back into ps3 then turn on ps3 then follow the onscreen instuctions then just go back to backup utility then click restore DONE

mk thats about it :) i have like 40 ps3 games and i allways had to delete data everytime i got a new game and was soo annoying but now there all on the ps3 with plenty of room left over
