I know this may be revolutionary thinking for you, but maybe, just maybe, he wants him to win because he wants to definitely say that whatever he bought with his own money is his to do with as he pleases and if he wants to tell others about what they too can do with the things they bought he should be able to.

But it's not revolutionary thinking.

I can't legally register my car in the state of California because it has a non OEM engine swap in addition to numerous aftermarket modifications that make it illegal to drive on public roads.

I can't legally modify any of my firearms to the degree that they fall outside the specifications of state law. Simple things like a threaded barrel, flash suppressor, a folding or collapsible stock, an interchangeable box magazine, a bayonet lug, a protruding pistol grip  can be the difference between a legal firearm and what is classified as a Class III "assault rifle." This is nothing to say of any such modifications that would allow a weapon to fire more than one shot with a single pull of the trigger.

If you buy a truck full of fertilizer, you're not allowed to bake it into a homemade bomb either for that matter using common household items.

THe car is a pisspoor analogy. You can drive it, own it, and do whatever you want to do with it, just not on the public roads. I'm not exactly sure, but I bet you can probably go on a tack and use it there.

Give me a use for a gun other than murdering a living being, or show me that the PS3 murder living beings, and we can begin talking. Otherwise, that was a really nice stretch of logic.

You know, I'm fairly sure you can do that with your fertilizer, just don't blow it up such that it harms living beings or public property. I guess you should have a pretty big property to do that. Again though, when your PS3 starts exploding and shit, give me a call. Another funny stretch.

Funny I can go get that anarchy cookbook and proceed to share it with people, and that is perfectly legal. For some reason I however cannot go and post how to utilize your PS3 better. Funny isn't it.

The car is a legit analogy. There are limits to what you can do to them before they are considered not legally drivable on public roads. You still have to register a car for offroad use in most states if it falls into this category.

Get creative: you can use a PS3 or any device capable of making complex computations as a "murder weapon." Shortly after the PS2 debuted, Iraq ordered a large number of PS2s with the idea in mind of creating a computer cluster exclusively for military purposes. With the USAF using a cluster of PS3s for unlisted computing purposes, there are clearly military applications for what is at the core a device for making complex computations to include military applications, i.e. neutralizing enemy forces ("murder" if you're that type of person).

But don't make it a pointless "contest" to prove that a computer can't be used as a weapon. What do you think it is that makes modern smart munitions far more effective (read: lethal) on the small end of things? Guided munitions on a slightly larger scale? Strategic defense on the largest scale? Don't pretend to be so naive just to prove a point.

And half the recipes in the Anarchist Cookbook you mention either don't work or are just as likely to do more damage to the idiot using them than anyone else.

And technically if you wanted to post any or all of the information in the Anarchist's Cookbook, you'd be subject to copyright infringement if the author or publishers cared enough to sue.

You can do whatever the fuck you want to the car, and post how to do the same on the internet.

Your analogy to try and equate guns and the PS3 is just getting more and more of a long grasp, but if you continue it will be a pretty fucking hilarious stream of thought for a demotivator.

The point is that I can, end of story. I will also not be sued if I only use certain parts of the book at this point since you can't copyright "how to make things go boom."
