I am posting this because the effect in Japan will be dramatic and this will truly harm any chances of the PS3 catching the 360. I would suspect the remainder of 2011 in Japan to be 50% of the sales the remainder of 2010.

I really doubt the disasters are going to effect sales that badly. Check Media Create, PS3 actually increased in sales last week. Yes, sales will be affected but it most likely won't have much of a long term impact.
|
Earthquake happened at like 3:30PM Friday on the 11th in Japan. So most of the sales for last week had already happened. Including a rather interesting new release that boosted sales particularly on day of release. That wont be the case going forward.
|
Unless the Fukushima situation escalates there's no way sales will suffer this badly.
First bigger part of Japan wasn't affected so badly. Second once affected people go back to living normal lives they are going to need replacement for destroyed property.
There will be 4-8 weeks of sales drought but after that sales will start returning.
